Can Arsenal win their first win for the new season?
Can Arsenal win their first win for the new season? Or to be more precise – their first point? On Saturday afternoon the Gunners host West Ham at the Emirates Stadium. West Ham is another team without a point won since the beginning of the campaign. It shall be an exciting season for Arsenal’s fans as Arsene Wenger finally stepped down, being replaced by Unai Emery. But it’s hard to say that the Spanish manager had a very convincing start of his stint in Northern London. Arsenal lost against the champion Manchester City in the first round. They also suffered defeat during the visit to Chelsea, although they scored twice at the Stamford Bridge. Clearly right now Arsenal is a work in progress. Emery is a good manager and he proved it with Sevilla and PSG, but he needs time in order to rebuild the team. Arsene Wenger was managing the club for more than 20 years and his work can’t be improved with just a few months at the job. If Arsenal’s fans show some patience in Unai Emery, maybe they are going to see some good results. West Ham also began a new project in the summer. The Hammers appointed as a manager the decorated Manuel Pellegrini, who won the Premier League with Manchester City. But just like Emery, the Chilean tactician started the campaign with two consecutive losses – against Liverpool and Bournemouth. And if the loss against Liverpool was kind of expected, the defeat against Bournemouth was really disappointing. Which one of these teams is going to win its first points for the new season. Or maybe both will? Arsenal is favourited against West Ham at the Emirates – this is a good moment for them to start winning. But after two consecutive defeats, the Hammers won’t give up without a fight.
